Next year, Samsung will definitely abandon the Galaxy Note, in favor of its folding smartphones.
This year, Samsung has disappointed a lot of fans by not launching new Galaxy Note smartphones. Instead, the Korean giant has contented itself with offering S Pen stylus support on the Galaxy S21 Ultra, while in the second half of the year, the manufacturer has bet on folding smartphones.
And unfortunately, it is increasingly likely that the Galaxy Note line will not return in 2022. Samsung has yet to announce a final decision on the future of the line. However, according to a recent article published by XDA, the Korean giant will not have included any new Galaxy Note in its schedule for next year.
Citing Korean media, ETNews, XDA also explains that Samsung is preparing to end production of the Galaxy Note. Indeed, even if the company no longer released new models in 2021, it continued to produce in small quantities those released in 2020. But this production will end in 2022, which will mark the end of the Galaxy Note. , if there are no new models afterward.
Instead of producing Galaxy Note, Samsung would prefer to increase its production of folding smartphones, sales of which have taken off this year. Why? According to the source of this rumor, in 2019 and 2020, Samsung would have shipped 12.7 million, then 9.7 million Galaxy Note. On the other hand, the manufacturer predicts that it will be able to ship 13 million folding smartphones next year.
Apart from wanting to devote more production capacity to its folding smartphones, Samsung also wants the launch window once occupied by the Galaxy Note to now cede to folding smartphones.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra will be a Galaxy Note
But the company is not completely giving up on Galaxy Note fans. As mentioned above, fans of this line can already buy the Galaxy S21 Ultra, on which the display supports the iconic S Pen. And on the next model, the Galaxy S22 Ultra, this support should be improved.
Indeed, this ultra-high-end would not be content to support the stylus, there would also be a slot to accommodate this accessory. In essence, it will be pretty much a new Galaxy Note, but without the name.
Of course, for now, this information should still be treated with caution, since it does not come from an official source. However, it would make sense if Samsung ditched the Galaxy Note.
A few years ago, these devices stood out thanks to their XXL screens and thanks to the stylus. Almost all smartphones today have super wide screens, which has made the Galaxy Note more ordinary.
