Apple products |
After the months of September and October punctuated by the launches of new flagships, does Apple still have products to come out of its hat?
For two consecutive months, Apple has not skimped on events to keep its users happy.
Indeed, in recent weeks, we have seen the launch of a new iPhone, iPad, MacBook, AirPods, and an Apple Watch Series 7, not to mention the announcement of more modest updates to its HomePod mini and its Apple Music service.
At the start of November, the question that arises is whether the firm was stopping on such a good path, or whether it planned to go even further.
Will she be able to organize three events again in the space of three months, as in 2020? Can we expect the release of a new iMac, Mac Mini, iPad Air, or even the 2nd generation of AirPods Pro?
To be honest, according to many experts on the Web, Apple has already played all its cards for 2021 and therefore would not give us another conference. However, that doesn’t stop us from hoping!
In this article, we, therefore, review the different products that need to be updated, and we rate their chances (out of 10) to benefit from it in November.
MacBook Air
Around the same time last year, the MacBook Air was one of the first Apple computers to feature the M1 processor, which has since been eclipsed by the M1 Pro and M1 Max. Could Apple celebrate its anniversary by unveiling an updated model?
Today, a new model with a mini-LED display and featuring a major redesign, with new colors, more ports, and the end of the classic wedge shape, is reportedly in development.
Nevertheless, it is unlikely that it will be ready to see the light of day before 2022.
Odds: 2/10
iMac
As was the case with the MacBook Pro, instead of a single line that you can count on updating once a year, the iMac comes in two models, a 24-inch one for average consumers and a 27-inch premium more suited to professionals.
Today, the larger iMac is still equipped with Intel chips and is therefore in dire need of a review. This could be the case soon, although the relative lack of information suggests that it is not far enough along for a launch this year.
We don’t expect to see a new, bigger, 30- or 32-inch iMac until March or April 2022 at the earliest.
Odds: 3/10
Mac mini
We already thought we would get a new Mac Mini at the Apple event in October. For this reason, we remain hopeful to see it featured in a future press release from the brand.
Towards the end of August, Mark Gurman, a reporter at Bloomberg, predicted that it would be launched “in the next few months”, enough to imagine a release in November or December, as had been the case for the AirPods Max. at the end of last year. However, spring 2022 seems a more realistic time.
Rather than replacing the M1 mini that was launched last year, the next revamped model will be alongside it as a more powerful alternative. Discloser Jon Prosser claims that its 2021 version will be significantly thinner than the current one, with a “plexiglass” upper part.
Chance: 4.5 / 10
Mac Pro
The Mac Pro is still the dark horse behind it, and it’s sure to instantly eclipse any other Mac released in the vicinity, which might explain why it wasn’t unveiled alongside the new MacBook Pro.
But it’s also highly unlikely to be revealed in a press release, which is why we don’t expect the Pro update to appear this year.
Chance: 1/10
AirPods Pro
The October event, a good part of which was dedicated to the launch of AirPods 3, would have been an opportunity to talk about AirPods Pro.
Still, we don’t think the new AirPods Pro is ready for the day yet. They would rather be expected at the beginning of the year 2022.
Odds: 2/10
iPad Air
The new iPad Air, definitely the next Apple tablet to emerge, would still be an unexpected arrival in November or December. For good reason, supply chain reports suggest 2022 would be more likely.
Odds: 3/10
iPhone SE
The iPhone SE 3 won’t appear until spring 2022 at the earliest. Apple doesn’t want to cannibalize sales of its iPhone 13 models with a new, cheaper model so soon after their launch.
Chance: 0.1 / 10
iPod touch
Last May, we mentioned reports that a new iPod touch was being created. At that time, its launch was scheduled for fall 2021, which would correspond to November.
