Beau Flynn, the movie producer, announced shortly after the movie release that Baywatch 2 was already in the works and would have an “incredible” story. The original cast would return, and the rescue team would embark on a new adventure abroad. While the movie was a success, little has been heard about the planned sequel since 2017.
Dwayne Johnson is a workaholic who is constantly switching between projects. He also has several other franchises that he must prioritize. His schedule appears to have become increasingly hectic in recent years, to the point where potential sequels have been canceled.
Johnson’s workload may be one of the reasons Baywatch 2 hasn’t been heard from, but given the movie mixed reviews and modest box office success, he probably did. Maybe they decided that a Baywatch sequel wasn’t worth the time investment.
You already know that the Baywatch reviews did not entice Zac Efron and The Rock to return for Baywatch 2. As a result, no sequel to Baywatch will be made, no offense to those who took the movie seriously and wanted to see the adventures of our lifeguards continue.
