Birgitte Nyborg’s political career is the focus of the series, which premiered in 2010. Birgitte became Denmark’s first female prime minister after her predecessor, liberal Lars Hesselboe, was accused of using his government credit card to pay for his wife’s purchases.
Over the next two seasons, Birgitte must deal with her husband’s expectations now that she is in charge of the world’s 12th largest economy, the impact of his absence on her two young children, and the need to maintain both power and its principles, which, given the Danish parliamentary system, can be constantly changing. Is Borgen Power and Glory based on a true story? Everything is revealed!

IS THE STORY OF BORGEN’S POWER AND GLORY TRUE?
Borgen, on the other hand, is not based on a true story. It is an original political drama written by Adam Price, with Jeppe Gjervig Gram and Tobias Lindholm as co-writers.
They based the plot on a woman named Birgitte Nyborg, who becomes Denmark’s first female Prime Minister. The creators stated that they were inspired by many current female political leaders. Helle Thorning-Schmidt is one of them.
What distinguishes it from other political TV shows, despite its fictional stories, is how closely life imitates art in its case. Denmark did not yet have its first female prime minister when Borgen premiered. Helle Thorning-Schmidt had been elected to the position by the time the second season aired.
The showrunners credit their ability to observe and possibly shape the future to extensive research and insightful writing. Extensive research on current issues, history, statistics, and so on would provide screenwriters with a broad canvas on which to build their fiction.
People wonder if the screenwriters are looking into the future, but they attribute the similarity to the fact that other Danish foreign ministers have faced similar problems.
Borgen’s predictions aren’t the only way he’s influenced the Danish political landscape. Ms. Thorning-Schmidt stated that she did not watch the show because she did not want to be influenced by what she saw on television.
The creators added another layer of reality to the show with the media portrait, in which news channels prioritize ratings over what they should be doing.
Creator Adam Price and producer Camilla Hammerich have both worked for major broadcasters and have a thorough understanding of how media companies operate. It aided them in bringing the same level of authenticity to the show.
