General Motors will highlight its new electric car, the Chevrolet Silverado, a pickup with four-wheel drive, and a 200 kWh battery.
On Wednesday, October 6, General Motors (GM) announced that it will unveil its electric Silverado at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas. The event will take place on January 5, 2022. On the same day, General Motors Chief Executive Officer Mary Barra will deliver the opening address for the event.
CHEVROLET SILVERADO WILL BE INTRODUCED IN EARLY 2022
In early 2022, Chevrolet will present its future Silverado electric pickup at CES in Las Vegas. The choice of location reflects the brand’s belief that future buyers of the electric vehicle will be a little different from those of the traditional Silverado. For General Motors President Mark Reuss, electric truck buyers will be different from traditional buyers, and they will be “the customers of what the trucks will look like in the future.” Chevrolet’s upcoming electric pickup will be produced at General Motors’s Detroit-Hamtramck plant. Note that the factory was named Factory Zero.
The Silverado Chevrolet will be equipped with four electric wheels and wheels up to 24 inches in size. It is also equipped with a Ultrium battery which can reach 200 kWh in capacity, depending on the model chosen by the buyer. According to the American manufacturer, the range of the pickup is 640 km. General Motors also announced that the electric pickup will optionally have the largest (non-removable) glass roof in the class, providing better headroom than regular Silverado models.
At the moment, we have no information regarding the date of the electric van’s sale and deliveries. But, it wouldn’t be before the Ford F-150 Lightning, Silverado Electric’s main competitor, which promises a range of up to 483 km, depending on the model chosen. As a reminder, GM wants to become a 100% electric automaker by 2035.
