When will the Pixel Watch be released?
Much like the OnePlus Watch, we’ve been waiting for a Google knockout for ages.
It was in 2018 that it was confirmed that the American giant was working on a Pixel Watch. Still, in an interview with Tom’s Guide, Google’s Wear OS engineering director Miles Barr said he wasn’t quite ready to bring this to the market just yet.

Jon Prosser has since shared an image of the supposed Pixel Watch, showing a close-up of its design, with a physical crown in the background … Featured under the codename “Rohan” internally, it is expected to be unveiled during October, at the same time as the Pixel 6, if it has not yet been postponed.

But the Google event was ultimately devoted to Pixel 6 only.
A post on Google’s Wear OS help forums at the end of July suggests that the Watch will use Wear OS 3 from the start. The parent company will “roll out the system update from mid-to-late. of the second half of 2022 “.
If this proves to be true then the Watch will not land until the software, which is towards the end of next year.
What will the technical characteristics of the Pixel Watch be?
Previous rumors were of three different models, including one with 1 GB of RAM and support for 4G LTE.
Although the whistleblower Prosser did not have details about him, he did post a few renderings based on images sent to him. Made by Ian Zelbo, they show a possible design of the Pixel Watch and also hint at certain technical characteristics.
It looks amazing with a completely circular screen and minimalist bezel. Marketing documents describe it as a bezel-less round, favoring unity over software and hardware.
We also notice a crown with, on the opposite side, what looks like a small hole to accommodate a microphone, as well as a slot, probably for a speaker. While it looks very thin, Zelbo mentions that it could be the same thickness as the Apple Watch.
Renderings also show a strap that slides in and out on the side and a silicone model with streaks on the inside that offers a locking system. According to the same source, you will have a choice of 20 different bands.

As for the operating system, during Google I / O 2021, Google and Samsung announced an official partnership that sees Wear OS and Tizen OS merge to become a new platform for wearable gadgets. This association would thus offer improved performance, up to 30% less application loading time, better longevity of its autonomy, and new features.
No official name was mentioned at the I / O conference or in press releases about it. However, according to the official Google Help Forum post regarding updates to existing Wear OS watches, “Wear OS 3” seems to be the most likely name.
Right now, we don’t know what the back of the Pixel Watch will look like, but it will have a heart rate monitor and, presumably, wireless charging, like its rivals.
We’ll still have to wait to find out about other specs, like the screen size, resolution, and connectivity of the Pixel Watch.
