A harassed, overweight man travels the world in search of the next big thing, occasionally trying to call his supportive wife Teresa from his hotel room. Is Hustle based on a true story? Everything is revealed!
IS HUSTLE BASED ON A TRUE STORY?
No, the plot of Hustle is not based on a true story. Will Fetters and Taylor Materne created this original story.
Although “Hustle” is not based on any real NBA player, the movie creators made every effort to make it as authentic as possible. Because of his well-known fondness for the sport, Adam Sandler was approached for the role of Stanley Sugerman.
He found the script to be very inspiring, and he liked the idea of working hard and not always getting what you want. Sandler, who also produced the movie, wanted to stay true to the NBA.
Sandler’s character was supposed to track down the rising NBA star somewhere in China. The writers were very interested in delving into this plot arc.

Netflix, on the other hand, advised them to travel to Europe or Latin America. The reason for this is that Netflix was “denied by the Chinese government.”
Sandler explained that the process of finding the right actor took place during quarantine, with many basketball players and good actors who could play basketball auditioning. Juancho Hernández, who eventually got the part, was not initially interested.
Following the casting of Bo Cruz, the team set about recruiting other real-life basketball players. Co-producer LeBron James streamlined the process by ensuring that the cast and crew had access to all NBA-related materials. Given this, the movie Hustle is not based on a true story!
