Get everything you need to know about NCIS season 20 episode 5!
NCIS season 20 episode 5 undoubtedly contained a lot of fantastic material, but one thing, in particular, may have us debating Timothy McGee’s future for a while.
What we’re discussing here, specifically, is his position and whether or not Leon Vance might be replaced by him as Director of NCIS in the future.
Parker joined Rocky Carroll’s character for protection when he left for a conference overseas, which put McGee in a precarious position.
While he didn’t initially enjoy it, he gradually came to realize that he did. Given his intelligence and common sense, it makes sense that he would get used to not being in the field.
However, Vance will ultimately return to his Director position, which means that McGee will return to his old position—at least temporarily.
The crucial question is whether he will eventually return to this location, and we believe that he will!
Given that Carroll is still a series regular and doesn’t seem to be leaving the show anytime soon, it might not happen anytime soon.

However, this might be McGee’s ultimate goal, and it would be a richly deserving promotion.
The only field agent who can make that claim is this man, who has worked for NCIS since the show’s first season. He is capable, and intelligent, and would respect the contributions of everyone he has worked with.
We at least advise you to keep this in the back of your mind regardless of what the future holds.
