Outlander is now on Netflix! Continue reading for a summary and explanation of the end of Episode 1 of Season 6! If you thought we’d be treated to a joyful or lighthearted return to the world of Outlander after nearly two years of wandering the drought-stricken wasteland, you’d be wrong.
We left Fraser’s Ridge in perilous circumstances, and when we return to 1773, things aren’t looking so good. Sure, the Ridge is running like a well-oiled machine right now, but there’s tension, threats, and a lot of knowing looks that indicate none of this is Well.
It’s nothing new to The Ballad of Claire and Jamie Fraser; these two have seen it all and found a way to move on. But things appear to be different this time, and I believe it’s because Claire and Jamie, who are normally tenacious, appear defeated for the first time. Read this to learn everything there is to know about Episode 2.
Claire’s voiceover begins with a line about “memory being the devil” and ends with us creating our ghosts and “haunting ourselves.” Here’s a summary and explanation of the end of Episode 1 of Outlander Season 6!

SUMMARY OF OUTLANDER SEASON 6 EPISODE 1
1753
The first 20 minutes or so of the episode transport us to 1753 when Jamie has just arrived at Ardsmuir prison following the Jacobite uprising. There is a large group of men there who fought but lost against the English, but even among these men, there is a schism because some are Catholic and some are Protestant.
Although Jamie and Christie disagree, there appears to be some mutual, albeit grudging, respect between the two men. Quarry appears to be uninterested in the position of prison warden after all.
1773
Fast forward to 1773 in North Carolina. Claire is sleeping soundly, but Jamie is having difficulty waking her up. She is overjoyed when she finally awakens. She appears to have discovered a method of producing ether, which she claims puts the user in a “deeper than sleep” state, making practice easier and less painful. a procedure
Jamie claims that Major McDonald, the former governor’s replacement, wants him to become an Indian agent to represent the Crown and improve relations with the Cherokee tribe. Meanwhile, Jamie insists on following Claire wherever she goes, clearly concerned for her safety and mental and emotional well-being since her kidnapping.
This is a good time to mention that Roger and Brianna are still alive and well, even though we only get a brief glimpse of Jemmy in this episode. Young Ian decides to take Allan on a hunt at one point and notices and admires his gunpowder horn. It’s a fairly innocuous scene or would be if it didn’t serve two distinct purposes: to demonstrate that Lionel’s ugly brother, Richard Brown, is always there giggling and generally being the worst, and to demonstrate that Allan appears to have sticky fingers.

END EXPLANATION FOR OUTLANDER SEASON 6 EPISODE 1
Claire’s current state of mind is revealed at the end of Outlander Season 6 Episode 1. Seeing Richard gave her terrible nightmares, which she most likely already had. She awakens hyperventilating but assures herself that she is fine and only needs a cup of tea.
Instead, she brews herself a dose of ether and passes out in the other bedroom’s bed. This season will undoubtedly be difficult for Claire. Caitriona Balfe has previously stated this in interviews, so it will be interesting to see what happens.
