Rick and Morty Season 6 Episode 4 ends with Summer catching up with the Smiths and attempting to use a sedative to subdue Rick.
Jerry intervenes, though, and proposes a consensual resolution to the dispute between the two opposing factions. To put an end to their argument, Jerry asks Rick to consent to wash the dishes.
We don’t see Rick’s thought process as he considers the proposal. After Rick & Morty Season 6 Episode 4, we see Rick under the influence of drugs and in his Nocturnal form, traveling home with the rest of the Nocturnal Family.
It follows that Rick declined to comply with the family of the night’s request.
This scene also emphasizes Jerry’s role as the voice of reason and Rick’s pettiness, two recurring themes in the show. The Smiths’ daily life is eventually taken over by the Night Family after they prevail.
