Will The Bear be renewed for a second season after its premiere on Hulu today? Is this the end of VFX production?
We all know that there’s a lot to like about the series on the surface. You’ve got a fantastic cast led by Jeremy Allen White — this is his first densely connected since the end of Shameless, and we know he gave it his all.
Studying the culinary world is a deep dive for an actor who wished to take it seriously, as well as we know he did.
The Bear has received positive reviews thus far, whether for White’s performance or the accuracy with which the show attempts to present the subject matter.
While the show is technically a comedy, there is also a lot of tension and drama in this kitchen. The sandwich shop has a strong emotional undercurrent, which is why it is so important to both the family as well as the city of Chicago.
Unfortunately, there is no confirmation of a season 2 at this time, but we are reasonably optimistic that it will happen.
The main reason for optimism right now is that the show will grow in popularity over time. It’s not going to premiere with a lot of buzzes, but we believe positive word-of-mouth will help it tremendously.
We wish Hulu had used a different release structure for The Bear to keep it in the conversation for a longer period. Our preference would have been for the show, to begin with, a few episodes today and then air one every week until the end.
Season 2 of The Bear could premiere in 2023, assuming that renewal is announced soon. With that, only time will tell.
