Get Everything you need to know about The Blacklist season 9!
Season 9 of The Blacklist has been on a creative high lately! We know there were some frustrations with the show this past fall, which was understandable — it was difficult to get a sense of what the larger narrative was going to be, and it definitely took the writers some time to find their footing.
Now that they have, we are left with the all-important question of who is responsible for Liz Keen’s death.
For the time being, there is, of course, one simple way to look at this: Vandyke is responsible for the character’s death. He was the one who pulled the trigger, but it’s clear that he wasn’t acting alone at this point.
We now know that Reddington will not know the identity of this person until at least episode 20 of this season, which airs in just over two weeks. Can we find out about them before he does? Sure, but that’s not something the writers here do very often.
For a long time, it seemed like the show would take one of two paths: reveal the person’s identity before the finale, allowing us to have a final showdown then. Alternatively, reveal the person’s identity during the finale so that season 10 can focus on the fallout.

The writers’ choices may be influenced by the identity of the Big Bad. If it’s someone who has already appeared frequently on the show (for example, Marvin), we could see it revealed before the finale.
However, if the threat is unexpected, we wouldn’t be surprised if the big reveal is a cliffhanger for what’s to come…
