At the end of Episode 3, we learn that Gabriel is the Guardian of Yesod, who spent years protecting the Sephirot before Lailah shattered them into several small fragments.
He came to Earth to reclaim Alas Ramus after years of collecting Yesod fragments to avoid becoming a fallen angel. Although he begs Maou and Emi to let him take Ramus back, both think it’s impossible.
When it appears that the demands will not be met, Gabriel employs controlled attacks to intimidate Maou but is unable to break her resolve. But when Chiho decides to stand in front of Maou and begs Gabriel not to take Ramus, he decides to leave.
