Get Everything you need to know about The Flash season 8!
There were several teases leading up to tonight’s season 8 finale of The Flash, including a big cameo.
Of course, we were instantly curious as to who it might be, especially given the hype surrounding Jay Garrick, Impulse, and XS.
Damien Darhk appeared with Iris in the first half of the episode, but was he enough to justify the massive amount of hype?
We have to presume that this WAS the cameo, so take what you will from it… We say this as someone who adores Neal McDonough’s performance.
So what we’re interested in right now is a certain blue crystal at the end of the future finale, which appears to strongly imply that Cobalt Blue will be the new False Speed Force avatar in season 9.
This is a new comic-book villain for the show, and we think it would make sense for it to be a version of Eddie Thawne, just to keep that last name’s legacy alive. Given that the previous two seasons have featured major arcs centered on the Reverse-Flash and Godspeed, we do wonder if we want another speedster-versus-speedster conflict.

It is unclear whether Season 9 will be the network’s final season, but at this point, it appears that it very well could be.
The show isn’t as intense as it once was, but we still believe Grant Gustin, Tom Cavanagh, and a slew of other actors are giving it their all. Coming out of the finale, we just mostly hope that there’s something new about Cobalt Blue and that this story evolves interestingly.
