“In 1978, in an alternate version of New York City, super-powered individuals known as the NEXT roam the city as superheroes for hire,” according to the official synopsis for Season 2 of Tiger & Bunny. The most well-known heroes are superpowered billboards who work for a corporate sponsor. Hero TV follows their heroic exploits and activities, and at the end of the season, the highest-ranking hero is crowned “King of Heroes.”
Because they both have the same superpower, veteran hero Kotetsu T. Kaburagi aka Wild Tiger is paired with rookie hero Barnaby Brooks Jr. Despite their shared abilities, the duo finds it difficult to work together, constantly clashing over their views on what it means to be a superhero.
