Facebook is getting a lot of attention this year. However, according to reports, Mark Zuckerberg is on the verge of changing the name to something more natural or even fashionable to stick with Horizon Workrooms, the metaverse created by the Facebook company.
A DIFFICULT STEP IN THE FUTURE OF FACEBOOK
While Facebook has been able to significantly increase its revenue in 2020 and 2021 with the help of the COVID-19 pandemic, these last words, events have come to disturb its future. Indeed, between data leaks and these famous failures that cut users’ access to Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, and Occulus Quest, Facebook has not been idle in recent months, reducing the number of visitors to its applications like WhatsApp in favor of its competitor Telegram.
Is this one of the main reasons for the possible name change of the company? No, on our side, we are opting more for the hypothesis of a refresh to harmonize the new name with its new virtual world, Horizon Workrooms. However, a close source would have said that Facebook would have the ambition to be, very shortly, known other than to be a social network and to make people forget all the evils which result from it in recent years.
TOWARDS A METAVERSE COMPANY
Interviewed by The Verge in July 2021, Mark Zuckerberg said he will develop, or rather, turn Facebook into a metaverse business. This transition would have the consequence of transforming Facebook from a simple social network to a universe where we could interact with people.
For the moment, Mark Zuckerberg has categorically refused to answer questions from our colleagues. This new name remains a real mystery, especially since even people in Zuckerberg’s inner circle are unaware of even the future name of the social network, which is now 18 years old.
